Things have been coming together.
Last summer I decided to go out in London and be okay no matter what happens and be ok on my own. I went out busking and motivated myself to not quit whenever I felt like packing up and going home.
The moment I most wanted to go home, I decided to stay. I got my first bill and met an amazing group of people who were busking in the same area as me. They invited me to sing with them and perform where people were actually able to hear us. I felt at home, there was so much love and acceptance and we got along so well. They called me ‘the Canadian goose’ and the new baby of the family. I felt happy. I stuck around London for about twelve hours and my soul was filled; I felt love, happiness, freedom. It’s felt simple. They talked a lot about freedom, shared their songs, spoke their beautiful minds. I was grateful. And the one line that stuck was “what you see is the reflection of your own beauty.” It's our choice to be happy.
Follow your instincts, motivate yourself to not give up on what you love, what moves the ground you walk on, and you will find your way home. You will find people who share a similar mind set and those people will encourage you and encourage each other. Together, you will be one.
That night after I came home, I had a dream. I was walking in a dim forest, possibly with someone else. It was foggy and I had a cigarette in my hand. As I was about to light it - I saw a pathway that looked light and lead towards a beach. Without even thinking, cigarette still in hand but not lit I sprinted towards it. As I reached the water, I dropped the cigarette in the sand without thinking and sprinted along the shore. That’s when some of my beautiful friends came towards me, absolutely shining on the outside and smiling; their beauty reflecting themselves from the inside out.
These were two contrasting worlds; it was not hard to step out of one and into the other. Its all in the mind.
Its not hard to take a pathway of happiness. Just get yourself out there. Love what you do and do it for the right reasons. Love yourself. Love other people. You will find your way home.
